our Background and journey
In 1988, my wife and I started our journey in life together and have now been married nearly 37 years. We began our marriage with very little education on finances and absolutely no savings. Like many other families, we lived paycheck to paycheck. There was a time when we couldn't even afford to pay our $30 electric bill. To say we struggled was an understatement.
As we started our careers, we felt as though we had won the lottery since we never really had any money before. We thought that part of getting ahead was to establish good credit, so we began borrowing our way toward a successful life. By 2008, we found ourselves in nearly $500,000 in personal and business debt, not including our mortgage. From credit cards to back taxes, personal loans, vehicle debt, our home, and everything in between, we were drowning. Warren Buffett once said, "You can tell who is skinny-dipping when the tide goes out." However, in our minds, everything was going okay—until it wasn’t. The housing market crashed, sales from our business plummeted, and we had little hope. The nearly half-million-dollar mountain of debt was so great it seemed impossible to conquer. We were on the brink of bankruptcy.
With nowhere to turn, we began to pray. We asked God to show us a path forward. And He did.
We embarked on our financial journey, which eventually led us to become completely debt-free. Today, we find ourselves in a financial position we never imagined possible. This financial freedom has not only allowed us to meet our personal financial goals but also given us the ability to be outrageously generous in helping others. The impact we can now have on the lives of so many people is truly a blessing.
My passion now is to help others discover their pathway to financial peace. It is never too early or too late to get started.
